Has Youtube Gambling Ban finally arrived? That is a good question and we are not totally sure yet.
But one thing is certain. From 19th of March on Youtube will strenghten their policies regarding online casino promotion and gambling. One of the new restrictions is that underage viewers or viewers who are not signed in, will not be able to watch gambling videos anymore. Second thing coming in place is that Youtube will be restricting creators for referring to certain online gambling platforms. That includes displaying their logos and links if those are not approved by Google.
With those measures Youtube is enforcing a new layer of protection for younger viewers which be affected by online gambling in a harmful way, especially once such content is promoted by influencers.
But this is not the first set of actions that Youtube has taken against online gambling. Back in 2021 Youtube already implemented a ban on the gambling ads. At the same time also Twitch took action, delisting some online casino platforms.
On the other hand Google is also getting ready to implement new rules with the rise of the AI. Google plans to release an AI alghoritm which will prevent for any harmful content such as online gambling to be shown to the underage audience.
So what do we think about upcoming Youtube gambling ban? Such measures are of course not unexpected and they will overall strenghten responisble gambling, which we cheer for.
